Fìkh Yǐslo Ber

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber (/ˈjɪslo/ /ber/ [serious; sincere; severe; earnest] [square; block]) is a subtropical Town located in the Ěslorvogwin District of the Federation of Alveria.

The name Fìkh Yǐslo Ber is derived from the Constructi language, as Fìkh Yǐslo Ber was founded by Tsîthêbm Shëmënka, who was culturaly Constructi.

Climate

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber has a yearly average temperature of 33°C (91°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a blistering 38°C (100°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a warm 28°C (82°F). Fìkh Yǐslo Ber receives an average of 118 cm/y (46 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Fìkh Yǐslo Ber covers an area of nearly 4 km² (1 mi²), and an average elevation of 13876 m (2575 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber was founded durring the early 12th century in winter of the year 1146, by Tsîthêbm Shëmënka. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Tsîthêbm Shëmënka.

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber was built using the conventions of Constructi durring the early 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Fìkh Yǐslo Ber is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber is buildings are arranged arround a network of crampt packed earth streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town is the proud owner of a thick set of fortified walls fashioned from querried stone blocks. While not up to snuff for a fort or castle wall, the town's walls are naturaly much larger than those of forts or castles. Therefore, the construction such a wall is most expencive. Fìkh Yǐslo Ber's buget focused wall would serve its community well in battle in spite of looking unimpressive compared to castles and fortresses. Fìkh Yǐslo Ber's top tier civilian fortifications are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber is not quite well. Something happened here, perhapse recently, perhapse long ago. Whatever it was, it settled into the very soul of the town like a festering wound. The people go about their day well enough, but there’s a tention in the air you can cut with a knife. There’s a patern to the panic. It’s not easy to see, and no one quite agrees on what it is, but the locals know and operate under this pattern. It shapes everything they do, and you feel as if you’ve almost worked it out only for some small detail to devastate your theory every time you try and comprehend it.

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber has a Department of Firefighters, which is responsible for organizing fire fighting efforts during a fire and enforcing local ordinances relating to fire safety.

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Fìkh Yǐslo Ber's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used embraces individualism and experimentation. It emerged as a movement against traditional, classical styles and sought to make buildings dynamic and fun while breaking the rules. The style incorporated elements of previous architectural styles in exaggerated and whimsical ways. Traditional, conservative leanings were void in this era, with most scholars of architecture agreeing it was a time of “anything goes.”.

In Fìkh Yǐslo Ber hail is always enormous, yet harmlessly plinks off people, creatures, and structures.

The Crawling Hand near Fìkh Yǐslo Ber are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Fìkh Yǐslo Ber's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves drinking to channel Necromancy energies of tier 2 via oath swearing.

Economy

The following information was obtained via the Imperial Census Bureau as part of the Eyom Economic Outreach Program. It differs from Standard Imperial censuses in that many of Tom's citizens, regardless of culture, work in more than one occupation or hold more than a single job. The Imperial Census Bureau has ruled that a job is a job, hence, the intigers within the data presented here can count an individual more than once.

Whatever it is, it's such a lovely attraction that Fìkh Yǐslo Ber sees its fair share of tourists every year from all across Eyom. Consequently, its residents speak many languages at a functional level.

POI

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Fìkh Yǐslo Ber was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Fìkh Yǐslo Ber lost 219 people, 387 livestock, and 36 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 220, when members of Fìkh Yǐslo Ber's militia enacted an operation to patrol a specific area to dissuade the enemy from their current activities. The operation was complicated by the officer in charge of Fìkh Yǐslo Ber's forces was incompetent, and issue many foolish and-or unprofessional orders. The conflict ended with pitched battle between both forces, which ended in a stalemate for Fìkh Yǐslo Ber's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Fìkh Yǐslo Ber's bards, historians, and legend keepers.

History
